Rebecca Lloyd Garrison, owner and Power Pilates certified instructor, began her obsession with Pilates in college taking mat classes with both Kathy Van Patten and Ellen Comerford. She graduated from the Boston Conservatory in 2005 with a BFA in Ballet and Modern Performance. After suffering a herniated disc her junior year in college, Becca turned to Pilates to heal her body on the advice of her physical therapist. Becca turned passion into a career when she moved to NYC where she studied at Power Pilates with Bob Liekens, Susan Moran-Perich. After moving to the Boston area after 3 years in NYC Becca began teaching at Boston Pilates. She is continually blown away by Pilates' ability to shape and heal her body and is proud and happy to be leading Boston Pilates.
Cheryl DiPietro, New York Guild certified teacher, was introduced to Pilates through Clare Dunphy at Progressive Bodyworks. She traveled to NYC to study with Romana Kryzanowska and Shari Pace at Drago's Gym. Cheryl has continued her education by working with master instructors Peter Fiasca, Michael Fritzke and Ton Voogt. One of Cheryl's sons is the goal keeper for the New York Islanders professional hockey team and has used Pilates to enhance performance and prevent injury.
Polly Glynn, a Peak Pilates certified teacher, did most of her training with Pam Garcia and Nancy Keating. An avid runner, Polly got started in Pilates to strengthen and lengthen her muscles. She also wanted to balance her lower body strength with her upper body strength. Having personally experienced the benefits of Pilates, Polly got hooked on this method of movement and wants to spread the word to her clients. She wants to instill in her clients that the class is about them as individuals and not a competition. Says Polly, "I am inspired by my students. It's a wonderful feeling to see a student progress."
Laura Limoges-Erwin, Peak Pilates certified teacher, began practicing Pilates while working as a marketing consultant. After becoming pregnant with her son she was so impressed with the benefits of Pilates both pre and post pregnancy that she became certified as an instructor. Laura received her Bachelors of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and has worked in various marketing and communications roles throughout her career.
Paula Spina, a Peak Pilates certified teacher, has been a devotee of the Pilates method for over 10 years. She has studied with various Guild certified instructors and has sprinkled her knowledge with other methods as well. Her interest in movement was sparked in the '80's while taking dance classes with former Boston Ballet dancer Jimmy Rae and the late Thomas Molinaro of New York. Paula's mission is to stay true to teaching Pilates the way Joseph Pilates intended. Her philosophy is to allow the system to unfold, watching the magic as clients become stronger, more flexible and increase their body awareness. Her teaching experience is varied from working with the elderly, the athletic and those who want to gain and maintain fitness.
Sarah Ruback, Peak Pilates certified trainer, was obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Kinesiology and Nutrition in New Orleans when the first Pilates studio opened in her area. After a few sessions, Sarah developed a passion for the classical Pilates method and dove into learning more. She returned to Boston for a position in the corporate world but found Pilates essential in returning balance to her life. Sarah has studied with Paula Spina, Peak Senior Trainer, Pam Garcia, Peak Senior Teacher Trainer and Clare Dunphy, Peak Master Trainer, whose guidance and expertise inspired Sarah to become certified. In her free time, Sarah raises funds for cancer research running marathons. Her study of the Pilates method assists her greatly in training for these events.
